Money Update (Again!)

Money Update (Again!)

I have figured out a more visually-pleasing way to keep track of how much money has been raised for this project. We are getting closer and closer to the goal with each and every donation!

To the Youth of this World

Dear teenagers today,

Just because society believes that all we do in life is sleep, eat, procrastinate, and make poor decisions doesn’t mean we should live up to those standards. In fact, we should surpass them with flying colors. We are in the prime of our lives–learning all about who we are and what we are made to do. Don’t let your age limit you in any way–don’t feel too old to believe that dreams come true and don’t feel too young that you can’t make a difference. You can. Just think about all the young people our age who have made a difference in the lives of others around them: Just to name two, there’s Ana Dodson who was 17 years old when she founded Peruvian Hearts to support girls in the village where she was born before being adopted, and Bilaal Rajan who was named a UNICEF ambassador at age 8 because of his constant fundraising for causes such as HIV/AIDS research and disaster relief. There are so many more people like this in the world who have devoted their lives from a young age to make a difference in the world around them.

What’s the lesson here? Don’t feel discouraged that you haven’t lived your life like these two examples. Instead, figure out a problem in the world that you are passionate about. Unfortunately, there are plenty of problems which need addressing in this world. And then, start small. In your household, in your school, in your local community. And soon, with hard work, motivation, and maybe some help from the adults in your life, you will have started something great.

You never know what’s going to happen unless you try.

Money Update!

Until I figure out how to better post this on my website, I wanted to let all my viewers know how much money we have raised so far. With your help, our project has SURPASSED THE $7000 MARK and we are on our way to $8000. I am so thankful for all of the donations that have been made so far as well as all the emotional support I have been receiving from my readers. Thank you, all. This would not be possible without all of you.

HOWEVER, although we have already made it this far in about two months since I have started this blog, we still have approximately $18,000 to raise in a short three-four months. WE CAN DO THIS. I have faith in this project, and I cannot wait to see these computers reach the Zabaleen children in Egypt.

Please keep this project in your thoughts and prayers as the journey continues. This money is not for me–it’s for the children of Egypt. And not just any children of Egypt, but the children of Egypt who literally live in a garbage city with no access to education or technology and will never have the opportunity to receive either of these things if we don’t bring it to them. Spread the word about this project, because even if people cannot donate any money, their knowledge could start a chain reaction that will ultimately lead to the completion of this project on time.

I am hopeful that things will work out in the end for Laptops for Egypt. I am determined to stay positive throughout this entire process, even if things don’t turn out the way I want them to, when I want them. After all, good things come to those who wait.
