Money Update!

Until I figure out how to better post this on my website, I wanted to let all my viewers know how much money we have raised so far. With your help, our project has SURPASSED THE $7000 MARK and we are on our way to $8000. I am so thankful for all of the donations that have been made so far as well as all the emotional support I have been receiving from my readers. Thank you, all. This would not be possible without all of you.

HOWEVER, although we have already made it this far in about two months since I have started this blog, we still have approximately $18,000 to raise in a short three-four months. WE CAN DO THIS. I have faith in this project, and I cannot wait to see these computers reach the Zabaleen children in Egypt.

Please keep this project in your thoughts and prayers as the journey continues. This money is not for me–it’s for the children of Egypt. And not just any children of Egypt, but the children of Egypt who literally live in a garbage city with no access to education or technology and will never have the opportunity to receive either of these things if we don’t bring it to them. Spread the word about this project, because even if people cannot donate any money, their knowledge could start a chain reaction that will ultimately lead to the completion of this project on time.

I am hopeful that things will work out in the end for Laptops for Egypt. I am determined to stay positive throughout this entire process, even if things don’t turn out the way I want them to, when I want them. After all, good things come to those who wait.

  1. Sarah, I heard you speak at the CapSqaure Rotary meeting and was sooo impressed with what you’re doing! Have you thought about reaching out to the local media and see if you can get some coverage on what you’re doing? I think they would love your story and project!!!

    • Thank you so much for your support! I am in the process of reaching out to the media to bring attention to this project–the more people know about it, the better even if people cannot contribute financially. If you happen to meet anyone who might have philanthropic connections and/or would have any interest in knowing about the project, please feel free to spread the word and give out my blog address. Did you happen to pick up any of my business cards at the Rotary meeting? Please let me know if you need my contact information at any time, and I would be happy to give it to you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

    Dear Sarah,
It’s truly amazing to see how one person can make a difference in the world and positively affect those around him or her! Thanks for sharing this story.

  4. Robin

Awesome project, Sarah! Good luck! Will you do something with your May Program in conjunction with your OLPC project?

    • If all goes well, yes, Robin, I will plan to include this in my May Program project somehow. Whether or not I will be traveling to Egypt to deliver the computers myself or working in D.C. for a few weeks to train the travelling teachers, I do not know. All I can do is hope that the project continues to move in the right direction toward raising enough money to purchase these laptops! Thanks so much for your support!

    Dear Sarah,

Tennyson in his poem ULYSSES,wrote about the aging but heroic Ulysses : …”for my purpose holds to sail beyond the sunset “…Ulysses was resolute and determined “To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
Kudos , Sarah, for your noble and strong determination to realize your dream…

    Love,
    Ferial

    • What a great analogy! I have read this poem before, and I never realized how applicable it is to this particular situation. Thank you so much for your support, as usual.
