Hands Along the Nile

Hands Along the Nile (HANDS) is a nonprofit organization out of Arlington, Virginia aimed at “building bridges of peace between Egypt and America.”  HANDS seeks to develop partnerships between Americans and Egyptians to increase intercultural understanding and to support Egyptians in their efforts to raise the quality of life for all in their land.

I decided to partner with HANDS not only because of their immediate interest in reaching out to the children of Egypt to give them access to the educational and technological tools they need, but also because they already have established strong relationships with schools in some of Egypt’s poorest and most needy communities, which is perfect for a project like mine. HANDS has helped me with forming the connections needed between the teachers in Egypt and the teachers in America who will help to deliver the laptops once the money has been raised.
